“When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without heart.” Lamar Boschman

Who we are....
Recent Rainfall Music is the songwriting ministry of John and Helen Green.
John is a computer repair tech who also enjoys getting creative. He plays guitar and synth. His song Declare Your Glory was recorded on the 2004 Jesus Day/March For Jesus album For Your Glory, and was featured as a download on WorshipLeader.com. His song Mercy Once Again won Honorable Mention in the 2004 Billboard World Songwriting Contest. He also is a freelance writer who has been published in Discipleship Journal, The Wittenberg Door, Infuze online magazine and Worship Leader Magazine's Song Discovery Website. One of his goals is to be a published novelist. John was born in Kentucky, although he has resided in Arizona most of his life. As the son of missionary parents, he lived on the Navajo Indian reservation in Arizona. After graduating from Christ for the Nations Institute in 1984, he served as a youth pastor for two years in Australia.
Helen is a homeschool educator, teaching our children Ryan (15) and Rachel (13). She also teaches private music lessons, and conducts a music class at a Montessori school. She is a vocalist on our church's worship team, and plays piano and flute. Her song Above The Heavens has been one of our most widely-used songs. Helen is a native of Australia (Sidney/Blue Mountains area) who was somehow hoodwinked into moving to the United States. She still retains her accent although it has been a bit tainted by the 'Yank' influence. She is also studying toward her teaching degree.
Recent Rainfall music has been contributed to by a wide number of friends who have sang, or played on many of the songs. Over a two-year period, John recorded an album called Joy In The House which featured all original songs written and performed by members of our former church Faith Bible Chapel, located in Page, Arizona. Some of our musical friends and collaborators are featured on the 'Photos' page.
We are not professional muscians. What you will find on our site is a musical record of our journey with God, with songs ranging from the simple acoustic renderings, to full-blown celebratory numbers. We are learning as we go, and still have much to learn. The songs are a window into our world, and we hope that they will be an encouragement to you in your personal life, or in a church worship setting. A number of the songs are works-in-progress which will be polished, refined, and re-recorded at a later date. Your thoughts and feedback are welcome as you listen to, or use our songs. We have chosen to make the songs freely available around the world, with the stipulation that they may be copied and passed on, without charge. If you use our songs in you church, we ask that you report the usage on your CCLI song report. If you wish to use one of the songs on an album or project, please contact us for permission.
In 2003, we moved from Northern Arizona, relocating to Phoenix (Goodyear/West Valley). We now are members of Compass Church.
There will be new songs on the way in the next few months, so be sure to check back. You can be a big part in our success if you simply pass on our website address to several friends, and encourage them to do the same.
May God richly bless as you seek to honor Him!

About the name Recent Rainfall...
Living in a dry and dusty desert, a sudden summer storm can bring a dramatic change. Everything is washed clean and seems glowingly vibrant and alive. Within days, the landscape is enlivened with flowers and new growth, seemingly springing from nowhere.
That seems to be an apt metaphor for the refreshing and renewal that we can experience as we enter God's presence. Music seems to be a way that He has chosen to make available for us to experience His nearness in a special way.
